Logging

How do I log a drink?

On Today, pick what you are drinking in the row of drinks, then tap a cup size. Custom lets you type any amount up to 5 litres. The glass and the big number update at once.

I logged the wrong amount. Can I fix it?

Yes, for free. Tap the entry in Today's log: change the amount, the drink or the time, or delete it. The × on the row deletes it straight away.

Why does coffee count less than water?

Each drink has a share that counts toward your goal. The starting values are water 100 %, sparkling 100 %, tea 90 %, coffee 80 %, milk 90 %, juice 85 %, soda 85 %, sports drink 95 %. They are only starting points, not medical advice: change any of them in Settings → How drinks count (steps of 5 %, from 0 to 100 %). A new share applies to drinks you log afterwards; older entries keep the share they were logged with. Today shows both what you drank and what counted.

What is the "pace" line?

A straight line from 0 at your first reminder hour to your full goal at your last one. Today tells you how far ahead or behind that line you are right now. Once the goal is met the line is gone for the day.

Does a new goal change my past days?

No. Sip Daily remembers which goal was in force on each day, so streaks and the Trends chart judge every day by its own goal.

Reminders

When do reminders come?

Free: every 2 hours between 08:00 and 22:00. Every drink you log pushes the next reminder back by the interval, and reminders stop for the day once the goal is reached. Nothing is sent before you switch reminders on.

What do quiet hours and the catch-up reminder do? (Sip+)

Quiet hours: one block inside your day with no reminders at all. Catch-up: at the hour you choose, if you are under 75 % of where the pace line says you should be, you get one extra reminder with its own text. If you log enough before that hour, it is cancelled automatically.

I get no reminders.

Widgets and Apple Health

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit or +, search for Sip Daily. Home Screen: small (amount + bar) and medium (ring, amount, streak). Lock Screen: circular gauge, rectangular, and a one-line inline widget. Lock Screen widgets need iOS 16.

The widget's "+" button

On iOS 17 and later, the Home Screen widgets show a button that logs one glass of water (200 ml) without opening the app. The widget adds it right away; the entry moves into your log the next time you open Sip Daily.

What goes to Apple Health?

Only if you turn on Settings → Write water to Health. Sip Daily then writes the counted amount of each drink to Water. Editing or deleting an entry in Sip Daily updates or removes that same sample. Sip Daily asks for write access only and never reads your health data. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.

Sweat test

How does the sweat test work?

Open Body → Sweat test, tap Start a sweat test and enter your weight right before the session, in minimal clothing. Keep logging drinks on Today. Right after, towel off and weigh again in the same clothing, then tap Weigh in after. Sip adds the drinks you logged in between (you can correct the number), subtracts any urine you passed, and shows sweat lost, sweat rate per hour and body-mass loss. 1 kg of weight lost is about 1 L of sweat.

What do the 1 % and 2 % lines mean?

Sports-science guidance (ACSM, NATA) uses a 2 % loss of body mass as the point where endurance performance tends to drop. Under 1 % you kept up; over 2 % plan to drink more in long sessions. If your weight went up, you drank more than you sweated; drinking far beyond sweat loss can lower blood sodium, so the plan never suggests more than your expected sweat. These are rules of thumb, not medical advice.

What does “Add to today's goal” do?

It adds 1.5 L per kg lost to today's goal only. Today, reminders, streaks and the widget use the higher goal for the rest of the day; Remove takes it off again. Tomorrow starts from your usual goal.

Sweat profile and session plan (Sip+)

Each finished test is filed under its weather (cool, mild, hot, hot & humid). Sip+ shows your median sweat rate per weather and, for a chosen weather and duration, the expected sweat loss, how long until 2 % without drinking, how much to drink every 15 minutes to stay at 2 %, and a ceiling.

In & out chart

What is the in & out chart?

A frequency-volume chart (bladder diary): in Body → In & out log each time you pass urine, measured with a jug if you can, or just counted. Mark urgency or a leak. The drinks come from your Today log, so nothing is typed twice.

How are day, night and the NPi counted?

As the International Continence Society defines them: the chart day runs from your wake-up hour to the next wake-up (change it with Change). Daytime voids are before bedtime, night voids after it. The 24-hour volume leaves out the first void after waking (it belongs to the night before) and includes the next morning's. The nocturnal polyuria index (NPi) is night volume plus that next first-morning void, divided by the 24-hour volume. A void marked “not measured” counts as a void but blocks the volume figures for that day.

How do I give the 3-day chart to my clinic? (Sip+)

After three complete chart days, tap Open the 3-day chart. The page you see is the image that is shared: Share as image (PNG) or Share as CSV. Sip does not diagnose anything; the reference lines on the sheet are the ones clinicians use.

No. It is a single in-app purchase on your App Store account; nothing renews. On a new iPhone, open Settings → Sip+ in the app and tap Restore purchase.

How do I get my data out?

With Sip+, Trends → Export CSV creates a file with one row per drink (date, time, drink, amount in ml, share, counted ml) and opens the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files or send it.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your iPhone. There is no account and no server. Deleting the app deletes the log. See the privacy policy.
